Sweep Accreditation
To improve overall standards of sweeping, or steering throughout their clubs, Dragon Boats NSW developed improved sweeping guidelines and sweep records through a state-based system of testing and accreditation.
Dragon Boats NSW revised their guidelines to ensure they contained the most up-to-date standards that could also ensure higher classification levels across the sport.
The Association developed a data recording system so clubs could record sweep capability and individual sweep activity as well training accomplishments within each club.
The system also measured sweeping activity and results at regattas and resulted in the development of a more standardized sweep assessment and testing process. The Association appointed a sweep coordinator and sweep administrator to coordinate the new system and revise the guidelines.
To raise awareness among their members, Dragon Boats NSW produced a DVD that outlines the objectives of the sweep guidelines and also added a new feature 'Sweep Tips' to their monthly member newsletter.
